A well-known businessman died after being shot during a robbery bid at his farmhouse in Islamabad in the early hours of Monday, police said.

The victim, identified as Amir Awan, owned a car showroom in Aabpara. According to the police, CCTV footage showed five suspects armed with submachine guns and wearing bulletproof jackets entering the farmhouse.

Initial findings suggested that Awan had resisted the attackers. He was first taken to a government hospital and later shifted to a private facility, where he died during surgery.

An FIR has been registered at Shahzad Town police station under Section 397 of the Pakistan Penal Code on the complaint of his wife, Aisha Awan.

In her statement, Aisha said she woke up at around 2:45am after hearing noise and found her husband struggling with three armed men, while two others were positioned outside a bedroom window.

She added that their two sons were asleep in separate rooms at the time.

She said she began shouting, after which the assailants opened fire “with the intention to kill.” Her husband was shot in the abdomen and fell to the floor, she stated.

According to the FIR, the couple’s sons rushed into the room after hearing the commotion, prompting the attackers to escape through the window. Aisha added that two security guards later told her the suspects had taken their phones and cash, while another guard had been locked inside a room during the incident.
