Bushra Bibi moves FCC for suspension of sentence on medical grounds

Bushra Bibi, the wife of former prime minister and PTI founder Imran Khan, has filed an appeal before the Federal Constitutional Court seeking the suspension of her sentence and release on bail on medical grounds.

In her petition, Bushra Bibi has requested the court to suspend the sentence handed down by the trial court and grant her bail in view of her medical condition.

Her counsel submitted that she developed an eye ailment while in custody and subsequently underwent eye surgery. The petition argues that, given her health condition and as a woman prisoner, she is entitled to bail.

The appeal further alleges that Bushra Bibi was kept in solitary confinement and deprived of adequate medical treatment and care during her imprisonment.

It also claims that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has been deliberately delaying proceedings on her applications for suspension of sentence. The petition requests the court to order her release on medical grounds pending the outcome of the case.
