A prisoner of Bannu Central Jail has secured the third position in the arts group of the matriculation final examinations conducted by the Bannu Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE).

Dil Daraz Khan, 54, who is serving a sentence under Section 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) for murder, scored an impressive 1,005 marks out of a total 1,200, securing third position among private candidates in the arts category. 

Khan appeared in the exams as a private candidate from jail, having previously cleared his class nine exams behind bars.

According to jail authorities, Khan showed exceptional dedication and discipline while preparing for the exams. His achievement has been widely praised by jail officials and education authorities.

Topping the overall arts category was Aiman Hussain of Government Girls High School Sadrkhel, who secured 1,046 marks. She was followed by Ayesha, who claimed the second position with 1,041 marks.

In the science group, the top position was secured by a student of Cadet College Razmak. Students of Government Centennial Model School and Government High School Lakki Marwat clinched second and third positions, respectively.

Khan’s achievement is being hailed as an inspirational story of perseverance, self-improvement, and the transformative power of education.
