Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan’s elder son, Kasim Khan, strongly criticised the arrest of his cousins, Shahrez Khan and Sher Shah, in connection with the May 9 cases. He alleged that innocent family members are being unfairly targeted by the government.

Taking to X, Kasim accused the government of “punishing” Imran Khan’s relatives as the Supreme Court recently granted bail to his father.

“My cousins Shahrez and Shershah have been abducted, while Hassan Niazi has been convicted in a military court. This is blatant state repression, punishing family members because the Supreme Court tried granting Imran Khan bail,” his post read.

He further added, “Such tactics will not break us; they only expose the injustice further. Targeting innocent family members is cruel, unlawful, and must end.”

Lahore police detained Sher Shah, son of Aleema Khan, on Friday, a day after the arrest of his elder brother, Shahrez Khan, in a late-night raid on the family residence.

Police confirmed that Shahrez Khan and Sher Shah have been taken into custody in connection with the May 9 cases, with further investigations underway.

Kasim, along with his younger brother Sulaiman, has been actively campaigning for Imran Khan’s release from prison.

The brothers launched a global campaign, and visited the United States to meet political leaders and members of Congress to highlight what they describe as their father’s “unjust imprisonment.”

Earlier, Imran Khan’s sister Aleema Khan suggested that his sons might come to Pakistan to lead a campaign in support of the former prime minister. However, Kasim and Sulaiman have not confirmed any plans to visit.

Aleema further revealed that while both sons hold NICOPs (National Identity Cards for Overseas Pakistanis), one of them was missing. She added that Imran Khan did not oppose their travel to Pakistan and his sons have already applied for their passports and visas.
