Javed Miandad breaks down over Imran Khan’s jail ordeal, appeals for 'honest' man's release

Former Pakistan cricket great Javed Miandad became emotional while speaking about the imprisonment of his former teammate and Pakistan captain Imran Khan, making an appeal for the situation surrounding the former prime minister to be resolved.

Miandad, who shared the dressing room with Khan during Pakistan’s golden era of cricket, recalled their long association and expressed sadness over what his former teammate is currently facing.

Speaking during a recent interview, Miandad said that the country should resolve its differences and questioned the need for Khan to remain behind bars.

He described Imran Khan as a national hero and said his personal knowledge of the former captain led him to believe that he was an honest man.

The former Pakistan batsman became visibly emotional while discussing Khan's situation, saying that the matter continued to weigh on his mind. He also emphasized that he and Khan had shared a strong professional relationship during their playing careers.

Miandad and Khan were key members of Pakistan's famous 1992 World Cup-winning team. Their partnership on the cricket field helped define one of the most memorable periods in Pakistan cricket.

Miandad has previously spoken highly of Khan's character, describing honesty as one of the qualities that defined his former teammate. In an earlier interview with the Associated Press, Miandad also praised Khan's determination and refusal to give up during difficult circumstances.

Miandad concluded by expressing hope that the situation would be resolved and that he could do little more than pray for his former teammate.
