Two Palestinian children were killed in an Israeli drone strike in southern Gaza, according to medical staff at Nasser Hospital.

The attack took place near a school in Beni Suhaila where displaced families have been taking shelter.

Hospital officials said that the victims, 11-year-old Fadi Abu Assi and his eight-year-old brother, Goma, were brought in after being hit by the drone.

Their uncle, Mohamed Abu Assi, said the boys had gone out to collect firewood for their father, who uses a wheelchair. “They are children… what did they do?” he said. “They had no missiles, no bombs. They were just gathering wood for their father.”

During the funeral, the boys’ father was seen crying over one of his sons as mourners uncovered the child’s face from a white shroud.

The Israel Defense Forces defended the killing, saying that they crossed the yellow line, conducted suspicious activities on the ground, posing an immediate threat.

The incident occurred less than two months after a 20-point peace agreement, brokered by US President Donald Trump, went into effect in October.
