KP CM Sohail Afridi has reaffirmed that PTI’s planned long march will begin on October 4, with the procession set to start from Gandi Chowk in Lakki Marwat.
In a statement posted on X, Afridi said the march would continue until the “supremacy of the Constitution and law” and restoration of an independent judiciary.
He said the Constitution guarantees citizens the right to peaceful protest and maintained that PTI’s demands were within the constitutional and legal framework.
Afridi also said the party would not allow a repeat of the events of May 9. He criticised the federal government’s policies on security and terrorism in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, alleging that militancy had increased following what he described as a “regime change”.
He reiterated his opposition to military operations and displacement as a long-term solution to terrorism, arguing that drone strikes and civilian casualties could contribute to further instability.
The PTI has said the October 4 mobilisation will begin from southern Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, with the main procession departing Gandi Chowk at 1pm. According to the announced schedule, the march is expected to reach Karak on October 4, Kohat on October 5 and Peshawar on October 6 before proceeding towards Islamabad.
