Shadab Khan claims second T20 hat-trick of his career

Pakistan all-rounder Shadab Khan delivered a match-winning bowling performance as Antigua and Barbuda Falcons crushed Guyana Amazon Warriors by nine wickets in Qualifier 1 of the 2026 Caribbean Premier League (CPL).

The victory secured the Falcons a place in the CPL final after they bowled out the Amazon Warriors for only 76 runs at Kensington Oval and then completed the chase in just 5.2 overs.

Shadab was the standout performer with 4-16, including a hat-trick that made him only the second Pakistan bowler to take multiple hat-tricks in T20 cricket. The Amazon Warriors had made 40-1 by the end of the powerplay but then collapsed spectacularly, losing eight wickets for only nine runs in 3.1 overs.

Pakistan spinner Sufiyan Muqeem started the slide in the eighth over by removing Glenn Phillips for 16 and Mohammad Haris for one. Shadab followed with a three-wicket burst in the next over. He first dismissed Shimron Hetmyer for two after the batter was caught at long-on.

The Pakistan leg-spinner then produced two successive googlies to dismiss Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Quentin Sampson, both without scoring. The hat-trick was Shadab’s second in T20 cricket. He had previously achieved the feat during the 2024 Lanka Premier League while playing for Colombo Strikers against Kandy Falcons.

Only Mohammad Sami has taken more T20 hat-tricks among Pakistan bowlers. The former pacer finished his career with three.

Shadab also became just the third bowler to claim a CPL hat-trick. Rashid Khan recorded the tournament’s first in 2017, while Andre Russell became the second in 2018. Shadab claimed another wicket in his next over, while Muqeem added two more as the Pakistan pair accounted for eight of the Amazon Warriors’ wickets.

Muqeem ended with 4-13 from his four overs. Shamar Springer and Joshua James took one wicket each.

The Falcons needed little time to chase the modest target of 77. Rahkeem Cornwall smashed 49 from just 16 balls, hitting three fours and six sixes. Evin Lewis stayed unbeaten on 23 from 13 deliveries, while Amir Jangoo made four off four as the Falcons reached 77-1 in 5.2 overs.
