Iran has said it is ready for its national football team to compete in the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, despite ongoing regional tensions and political uncertainty.
Government spokesperson Fatemeh Mohajerani said on Wednesday that all necessary steps have been taken to support the team’s participation. She noted that the Ministry of Youth and Sports has finalised preparations to ensure the squad can take part without obstacles.
Speaking on state broadcaster IRIB, she said the arrangements were made under the supervision of the sports minister, with efforts focused on providing the team with the facilities and support needed to perform well at the tournament.
“The necessary arrangements have been made for the team’s successful participation,” she said.
Iran has already qualified for the World Cup, which is scheduled to be held from June 11 to July 19 across the United States, Canada and Mexico.
