The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has once again demanded the Asia Cup trophy and threatened to raise the issue at the upcoming International Cricket Council (ICC) meeting.

According to Indian media reports, BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia reiterated that the Indian team has still not received the Asia Cup trophy, even though the tournament concluded on September 28.

He stated that if the trophy is not handed over to India by Monday, the matter will be brought up at the ICC meeting scheduled for November 4, expressing confidence that the ICC will ensure justice and help India get the trophy.

It should be noted that India defeated Pakistan in the Asia Cup final held in Dubai but refused to receive the trophy from PCB Chairman and Asian Cricket Council (ACC) President Mohsin Naqvi. Following the refusal, an official removed the trophy from the stage.

Saikia added that the trophy has still not reached the BCCI office, despite a formal request being sent to the ACC Chairman about ten days ago.

Sources said ACC President Mohsin Naqvi had already responded to India’s request. In an email reply, the ACC stated that if India wants the trophy, they should come to Dubai to collect it. Mohsin Naqvi also offered to hold a presentation ceremony in Dubai on November 10.

Earlier, on September 30, during an ACC meeting in Dubai, the Pakistani and Indian cricket boards had a heated exchange over the same issue.

The ACC clarified that Mohsin Naqvi was present on stage to hand over the trophy after the final, but it was the Indian team that refused to accept it.

Naqvi asserted that if India now wants the trophy, they can collect it from the ACC office or receive it formally in a ceremony.

It is also worth mentioning that during the Asia Cup 2025, India’s captain Suryakumar Yadav violated sportsmanship by refusing to shake hands with Pakistani players after the match.

Later, during a press conference, he brought up political issues and, after winning the final, refused to receive the trophy from ACC President Mohsin Naqvi.
