The bodies of three transgender persons were found in the Memon Goth area in Karachi's Malir on Sunday.

According to rescue officials, all three victims had been shot dead. The bodies were shifted to a nearby hospital for medico-legal formalities.

Meanwhile, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah took notice of the killings and directed the Inspector General of Police to ensure the immediate arrest of those involved. “The murderers must be apprehended at all costs and a report should be presented to me,” the chief minister said in his directive.

Expressing grief over the incident, Shah said the transgender community is among the most vulnerable groups in society and deserves dignity and respect. “The state will not tolerate the killing of any innocent or marginalized citizen,” he added.

A spokesperson for the Chief Minister’s House confirmed that Shah has sought a detailed report on the matter.
