The Sindh Excise and Narcotics Control Department on Tuesday arrested a man for cultivating weed (cannabis) on the rooftop of his house during a major operation in Karachi’s Naya Nazimabad area.

According to Deputy Director Zahoor Elahi Mazari, the suspect, identified as Mohammad Salman, son of Mohammad Irfan alias Rana Sardar, was allegedly involved in secretly growing and supplying weed to various parts of the city, particularly near educational institutions.

During the raid, a team from the District Central Narcotics Control unit, led by Inspector Gul Sher Sheikh, recovered 45 cannabis plants, 42 grams of processed weed, and 30 grams of cannabis seeds from the suspect’s residence.

The seized plants weighed approximately 10 to 12 kilograms and are estimated to be worth around Rs60 million in the international market, the department said.

A case has been registered against the suspect under the Control of Narcotic Substances Act, and further investigation is underway to trace his network and distribution channels.
