Robbers in 'police uniform' loot US-returned woman in Karachi

A  US-returned woman was robbed immediately after landing in Karachi by the robbers. 

The woman had landed in Karachi from the United States late Thursday night to meet her daughter.

The robbers allegedly followed her to Hyderi in Karachi’s central district in a white Corolla and another vehicle and stopped her on the pretext of checking her vehicle.

The suspects were wearing police uniforms and introduced themself as intelligence agency official, the woman said.

They then used the pretext of searching her vehicle to make off with $4,000, a smartphone, gold jewellery and documents.

The woman’s husband later filed a complaint with the police. However, the police filed the complaint under clauses related to theft instead of dacoity.

This is not the first street crime reported in the metropolis in the recent days.

Earlier, a brave man fought with armed robbers in Karachi to foil a snatching attempt in Karachi.

In the CCTV footage, two persons were seen talking with each other, when they were interrupted by robbers. The incident was recorded on the camera on 25-4-24, around midnight in New Karachi Sector 11-G.
