Heavy showers on Tuesday caused waterlogging in low-lying areas and underpasses in Karachi, bringing traffic to a standstill with gridlocks and slow movement of vehicles on key routes.
Long tailbacks were witnessed on Shahrah-e-Faisal, University Road, Bahadurabad, Jamsheed Road, Jahangir Road, Shahrah-e-Liaquat, MA Jinnah Road and the National Highway, according to the traffic police.
The police advised commuters to avoid the Nazimabad, Liaquatabad and Gharibabad underpasses, where rainwater has accumulated, and instead use alternative routes.
The Clifton underpass, from Do Talwar to Teen Talwar, has also been closed to traffic due to flooding.
Waterlogging in the Korangi Industrial Area, particularly between Chamra Chowrangi and Vita Chowrangi left several vehicles stranded and further slowed down the flow of traffic.

Traffic officials said efforts were under way to clear the waterlogged routes and restore smooth movement.
Karachi received heavy monsoon downpours on Tuesday, leading to urban flooding in many neighborhoods with widespread electricity outages.
By afternoon, dark clouds blanketed the city as strong showers and gusty winds affected areas such as Surjani Town, Federal B Area, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Qayyumabad, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Malir, Shahrah-e-Faisal, Nazimabad, and New Karachi.
