Naran and Kaghan have been hit by unprecedented snowfall, bringing daily life to a standstill. Roads have been blocked, electricity supplies disrupted, and residents have been facing severe hardships for the past five days. While the heavy snow has turned the region into a stunning winter scene, it has also created serious challenges for local communities.
Snowfall in Naran and nearby areas has reached up to seven feet, while Shogran, Kaghan, and surrounding upper valleys have recorded around five feet of snow. Such intense snowfall has not been witnessed in the area for several years, further worsening the already harsh winter conditions.
Extended power outages and communication breakdowns have added to the difficulties. Heavy snow has caused power lines and poles to collapse, complicating efforts to restore electricity.
Due to the risk of landslides and continued snowfall, authorities have closed the Kaghan Road beyond Mahandri for all types of traffic. Roads leading to Shogran, a popular tourist spot, have also been temporarily shut to avoid potential accidents.
The Meteorological Department has forecast continued rain and snowfall today. Officials have urged both locals and tourists to avoid unnecessary travel and to stay away from upper regions until conditions improve.
Meanwhile, a fresh spell of heavy snowfall has disrupted life in Battagram and surrounding areas, including Chhatar Plain, Alaai, and Shangla. Snowfall that began last night continued until Tuesday evening, covering the plains with up to four feet of snow, while upper mountainous routes remain blocked by around two feet of snow.
As a result, many people, including shopkeepers from Battagram, Torghar, Kohistan, and Alaai, were left stranded at Shangla Top.
