Karachi Police solved the case of eight-year-old boy Abhan Mazhar's murder, claiming that they have arrested his 15-year-old cousin who has confessed to the heinous crime.

The Abhan was found in a seriously injured condition in the desert street behind the Karachi Institute of Heart Disease on Feb 14 in the Federal B Area area of the metropolis. He was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

According to Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) Central Zeeshan Siddiqui, the suspect, identified as Sufyan, along with his divorced mother, was residing in his maternal uncle's (his mother's brother) house.

The police officer said the suspect killed Abhan out of anger as he was scolded many times by his uncle over the complaints of the victim.

Confessing his crime, Sufyan revealed that he slit Abhan's throat using a knife and then put the knife back in the kitchen after washing it.

While probing the case, police obtained CCTV footage from the area in which Sufayan was seen carrying Aban, which led to the arrest of the suspect.

After committing a heinous crime, Sufyan talked to the media, detailing the incident, in which he said that Abhan was kidnapped from the gate of his house.

“I have made a WhatsApp call to my aunt and informed her about the disappearance of Abhan. after which they came and we tried to find him,” the suspect had said in his statement to the media.

According to Abhan's parents, Sufyan was responsible for taking care of Abhan and his two siblings when they were away from home due to their jobs.
