Millat Express incident victim's another video emerges

Another video of the woman, who was tortured by a cop on a moving train and later found dead near Chani Goth in Bahawalpur, circulated on social media.

In the 2.41-minute video, the deceased woman, identified as Maryam, can be seen exchanging heated words with a person lying on a berth.

The victim along with two children could also be heard reciting Kalma on the train.

The incident, which took place on April 7 on the Karachi to Lala Musa-bound Millat Express, came to light after the video of the cop thrashing a woman went viral on social media.

A day earlier, Pakistan Railways spokesperson Babar Ali Raza said that the woman had committed suicide by jumping from the moving train near Bahawalpur.

While talking to a private news channel, he informed that the woman was physically assaulted by the cop, Mir Hassan, after she refused to leave another passenger's seat.

The spokesman said that the passenger first requested the woman to leave his seat but when she refused, he called the policeman.

"Mir Hassan tried to convince woman to leave other passenger's seat for about 20-25 minutes, but she refused, then he subjected her to torture," Raza said.

Later, it was revealed that the victim's body was found near Chani Goth in Bahawalpur on April 8. She was buried in the village on April 9.

According to the initial report from rescue personnel, the woman reportedly jumped from the moving train on April 8 at 6:30am near Chani Goth railway station and died on the spot.

On the other hand, the brother of the deceased accused Mir Hassan and two unidentified persons of her murder.

Afzal said his sister was working at a beauty parlour in Karachi and was coming home to celebrate Eid.

However, the police are investigating the matter to ascertain the real cause behind the death of the victim.
