Man shoots teenage cousin to death for not wearing burqa in Mianwali

A 13-year-old girl was allegedly shot dead by her cousin in Mianwali for leaving home without wearing a burqa, according to police.

The girl was shopping at a local market with her father when the suspect, her cousin, followed them and stopped her, according to reports.

The suspect allegedly confronted the girl over not wearing a burqa and threatened her before opening fire. He reportedly shot her seven times, killing her at the scene. She was shifted to hospital for medico-legal formalities.

On getting information about the incident, the police reached the spot and arrested the suspect. The weapon allegedly used in the shooting was also recovered.

A case has been registered against the suspect, with an investigation launched into the matter.
