Lahore: Body of minor girl, who fell into sewerage line with mother, recovered

The body of a minor girl, who fell into a sewerage line near Data Darbar in Lahore along with her mother, has been recovered.
According to rescue officials, the body of Rida Fatima was found in a sewerage line on Outfall Road. The infant had fallen into an open drain along with her mother near Data Darbar on Wednesday evening.
Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has ordered strict action against those responsible for administrative negligence and carelessness in connection with the incident.
On her return from Bhakkar, the chief minister convened an emergency meeting at the airport and directed authorities to immediately submit an impartial fact-finding report.
An initial investigation report has also surfaced, detailing the sequence of events on the night of the incident. According to the report, the woman, her infant daughter and her husband were seen shopping near Data Darbar at 6:47pm. At around 7:22pm, the family reached the front of Data Darbar.
The report further states that at about 7:30pm, the three were seen heading towards the Old Parinda Market. Two minutes later, at 7:32pm, Rescue 1122 received an emergency call reporting that the woman and the child had fallen into a sewerage hole. Rescue teams reached the site within four minutes.
The preliminary findings also note that the woman’s mother-in-law was seen raising an alarm and calling people for help at the scene.
It may be recalled that the body of the woman who fell into the sewerage line had already been recovered earlier.
