JUI-F to hold nationwide protests on Wednesday, Friday over k!lling of cleric Maulana Idrees

ISLAMABAD: JUI-F Leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman has declared that his party would organise protest rallies throughout Pakistan on Wednesday and Friday in condemnation of the “martyrdom” of famous scholar Maulana Idrees.

The celebrated scholar and former Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Member of Provincial Assembly was murdered on Tuesday when unknown gunmen sprayed bullets at him, according to police reports.

“Peaceful protest rallies will be held tomorrow (Wednesday) and on Friday in opposition to the martyrdom of Sheikh Idrees”, JUI-F Information Secretary Aslam Ghouri stated.

According to him, all provincial and district chapters of the party would organise protest rallies in all four provincial capitals as well as in all districts.

Considering the demise of Maulana Idrees an irreplaceable loss, Ghouri added that they have become weary of transporting the corpses of leading clerics.

"How long will the authorities keep testing our patience?" Ghouri questioned, claiming that both federal and provincial governments have been unable to enforce law and order.

He asked people to attend protest rallies and show their opposition to lawlessness.

"The government has failed in its responsibility. Citizens must now come forward for their safety," the information secretary of the JUI party remarked.
