PCB reportedly bars Mohammad Rizwan from media talk

LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has reportedly barred Pakistan cricketer Mohammad Rizwan from speaking to the media about a case involving him, sources say.

National media reports, citing sources, say Rizwan sought permission from the PCB to speak to the media and present his position on the matter.

According to the sources, the PCB declined to grant permission, citing the fact that the case involving Rizwan is currently before the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA).

Sources said Rizwan wanted to explain his position to the public regarding the case but was not allowed to speak to the media.

Earlier, Lahore High Court Chief Justice Alia Neelum declined to take up Pakistan cricketer Mohammad Rizwan’s petition challenging an inquiry by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) and asked his lawyer to first respond to the agency’s notice.

The agency had directed Rizwan to appear before it on Sept 10. Rizwan and fellow cricketer Imam-ul-Haq appeared before the NCCIA on that date. Rizwan later approached the high court, challenging both the notice and the inquiry.
