A distressed family has issued a public appeal for assistance following the disappearance of their daughter Alvina, a student who went missing after leaving home for university in Karachi.
Parents of the missing student, talking to Dialogue Pakistan, said their daughter departed at approximately 10:30 a.m. on 29 April to attend extra classes, informing her family that she would remain there until around mid-afternoon.
She later indicated that she planned to have lunch with friends before returning home and, in a subsequent phone call at about 4:45 p.m., stated she expected to arrive back by 8:00 p.m. Since that time, however, there has been no contact, and her whereabouts remain unknown.
The family describes her as a notably gentle, responsible, and considerate individual who maintained close communication about her movements.
They emphasise that it would be entirely out of character for her to remain away without informing them, even briefly, as she was known to return home promptly and avoid causing concern.
It is further stated that she had limited familiarity with travelling alone beyond her usual routes, heightening the family’s anxiety regarding her safety. Unverified reports have suggested she may have been sighted outside the city, though no confirmation has been obtained.
In the immediate aftermath of her disappearance, the family reports having contacted relevant authorities, lodged a formal complaint, and visited multiple offices in an effort to trace her, but say they have yet to receive a substantive response.
In an emotional appeal, the parent has urged their daughter to make contact without delay if she is able to do so safely, stressing the severe distress her absence has caused.
The family has also called upon provincial and national authorities to intensify efforts to locate her and ensure her safe return.
