CIE made the announcement Thursday concerning the cancellation of the AS Level Mathematics (9709/12) examinations for candidates in administrative zones 3 and 4 due to the leak of the question paper.

This is as a result of the leak of the question paper, which was in violation of the exam regulations and thus not to be considered in awarding results.

This came after a similar incident involving the Math paper recently. CIE stated that the AS Level Math paper, administered in Africa, Europe, the Middle East, Pakistan, and South Asia, had been shared before time, contrary to CIE regulations.

According to the statement released by the body concerning the situation today, "After careful evaluation, the scale of sharing makes it impossible for us to award our final examination results using this paper. The decision to cancel Mathematics (9709/12) has been made accordingly."

This examination board clarified that the investigations were ongoing in cooperation with the appropriate legal authorities. It caused a lot of "frustration and disappointment," as acknowledged by Cambridge, due to the hard work put in by the students.
