“All of Pakistan to shut down”: Transporters announce strike on Dec 19

All the transport federation leaders in Pakistan announced a complete shutdown on Friday, December 19.

Vice Presidents and spokespersons Asif Khan, Lala Suhail, and Tariq Khan said that the government has not fulfilled any of its promises. However, the transport federation has decided, after consulting the sectors, to move forward with a complete wheel-jam strike.

“On December 19, Pakistan will shut—completely shut,” they said.

All buses, wagons, intra-city transport, markets, petrol pumps, offices, government sectors, banks, and supply chains will remain closed.

They added that the strike will continue until new rules for the traffic and challan system are implemented.

The All Pakistan Transport Federation, along with the Inter-City Transport Union, Inter-District Transport Union, Goods Transport, and student and government employee pickup-and-drop unions, have announced a nationwide strike on Friday, December 19. The protest is against excessive traffic fines, challans, vehicle impoundments, and alleged harassment.
