A three-year-old girl was killed, while her uncle and brother were injured after a speeding oil tanker ran over a motorcycle near Korangi Crossing in Karachi, police said on Monday.
According to police officials, the incident occurred when Saira, her 18-year-old uncle, Raj Muhammad, and her one-year-old brother, Subhan, were heading out on a motorcycle to buy juice. They were hit by an oil tanker near Korangi Crossing.
As a result of the accident, Saira suffered critical injuries and died on the spot. Her uncle and younger brother also suffered wounds and were shifted to hospital for treatment.
The police said the grieving family belongs to Gilgit-Baltistan and is currently living in Karachi for work. After completion of medico-legal formalities at the hospital, the child’s body was handed over to her family.
Witnesses present at the scene managed to catch the tanker driver when he attempted to flee and handed him over to Zaman Town police. Authorities said the oil tanker has been taken into custody and shifted to the police station, while legal proceedings against the driver have been initiated.
