13-year-old boy raped during Itikaf in Muzaffargarh mosque

Amidst rising child abuse cases in Pakistan, another disturbing incident took place on Tuesday in Muzaffargarh, where a 13-year-old boy was allegedly raped by a man during Itikaf in a mosque. 

The accused, who sexually assaulted the boy, was also observing Itikaf in the mosque located in the Sanawan area of Muzaffargarh, Punjab province.

The mosque's Imam, who informed the father of the teen about the incident, stated that he was threatened with serious consequences by the 28-year-old suspect.

According to him, the perpetrator took the young boy to a secluded place, raped him in the washroom, and fled the mosque after the incident.

The 13-year-old boy was also memorising the Holy Quran at the mosque.

The victim was transported to a nearby hospital for medical examination. The Station House Officer (SHO) Shahid Rizwan Mahuta assured that the suspect would be arrested soon.
