WhatsApp tests new feature to speed up Status videos

WhatsApp is testing a new feature that will allow users to watch Status videos at twice the normal playback speed.

According to a report, users will be able to activate the feature by pressing and holding anywhere on the right side of a Status video.

The video will play at 2x speed while the user keeps their finger on the screen and return to normal speed once the finger is lifted.

The feature does not require users to change any settings or manually turn on a separate option.

It has reportedly been spotted in a new beta version of WhatsApp for iOS devices. The feature is expected to work with all video Status updates.

However, it is not yet clear when the 2x playback option will be rolled out to all WhatsApp users.
