Ride-hailing driver goes missing in Karachi; family receives Rs800,000 ransom call

A ride-hailing driver, who went missing in Karachi six days ago, has yet not be recovered, with suspected kidnappers allegedly demanding Rs800,000 in ransom from his family.

Police have registered a case at New Town police station on the complaint of Rizwanullah, a manager at the driver's ride-hailing company.

According to the police, driver Siddiqur Rehman has been missing along with his vehicle since July 21.

The FIR states that he had travelled to Saeedabad in Baldia Town for the physical verification of his vehicle. His mobile phone was switched off since then. The investigating officer said the complainant suspected that the driver had been abducted by unidentified individuals.

The police have launched an investigation from multiple angles and are continuing efforts to trace both the missing driver and his vehicle.
