Punjab government on Tuesday paid an amount of Rs5 million to the family of a young boy, who was allegedly killed after his bike collided with a vehicle of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s security squad in Narowal on March 18.

The incident happened when a speedy car, which was part of CM Maryam's security protocol, hit 23-year-old Muhammad Abu Bakr's bike in Chandowal area of the district.

The district police officer (DPO) said the vehicles were going to Kartarpur for CM Maryam's security, where she attended Baisakhi celebrations on the same day.

However, the provincial government refuted the claims, saying CM Maryam Nawaz visited Kartarpur via helicopter.

"She was not travelling with a motorcade at the time of the accident," a spokesperson said.

On the other hand, CM had taken notice of the youth’s death and ordered immediate action, issuing directions for the identification of the car involved in the accident and the arrest of the culprits.
