Pakistanis celebrate Eidul Fitr with religious zeal

Pakistanis are celebrating Eidul Fitr today (Saturday) with religious zeal as large congregational prayers were held at mosques, Eidgahs, and open grounds across the country.

Worshippers offered special prayers for national security, prosperity, and the well-being of Muslims worldwide, particularly those in Palestine.

Authorities implemented strict security measures to ensure a peaceful celebration and prevent any untoward incidents.

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended Eidul Fitr greetings to the nation, emphasising unity, compassion, and economic stability in their separate messages.

President Zardari highlighted the significance of sharing joy with those facing economic hardships, urging citizens to fulfill their obligations of Zakat, charity, and Fitrana.

He described Eid as a reward for fasting and worship during Ramadan, calling it “a gift from Allah Almighty.” 

The president also stressed national unity, calling on Pakistanis to support one another for the country's progress. Additionally, he expressed solidarity with the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), praying for their freedom and the opportunity to celebrate Eid in peace.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in his message, acknowledged the internal and external challenges Pakistan faces. He urged citizens to reject extremism, hatred, and sectarianism, stressing that national integrity requires unity and vigilance.

He reiterated the government’s commitment to economic recovery, maintaining peace, and ensuring social stability. He also honored the sacrifices of the armed forces in the fight against terrorism, extending solidarity to the families of the martyrs.
