Pakistan on Thursday urged the United States and Iran to end hostilities and resume technical-level talks under the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), saying the peace framework brokered by Pakistan was facing challenges.

Speaking at the Foreign Office's weekly briefing, spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said Pakistan would continue encouraging all sides to end violence and return to dialogue in line with the Islamabad MoU and the joint statement issued by mediators Pakistan and Qatar following direct US-Iran talks in Switzerland on June 20.

"We hope all parties will remain committed to the path of dialogue and diplomacy in resolving their outstanding issues," Andrabi said.

His remarks came as the United States and Iran continued exchanging military strikes, with Washington targeting Iranian coastal defences and missile sites, while Tehran launched retaliatory attacks on US military facilities in Gulf states.
