Murder suspect shot dead in 'police encounter' hours after killing citizen in Karachi

A man suspected of killing a citizen in Karachi's Dalmia area was shot dead in an alleged police encounter just hours after the incident.

According to police officials, the suspect, identified as Ejaz alias "KK", fled the scene after allegedly shooting the victim and taking away the victim's pistol.

Police said senior officers, including the SDPO Shahrah-e-Faisal, visited the crime scene. The suspect was later traced to Gulistan-e-Jauhar, where he allegedly opened fire on police after spotting them. Officers returned fire, killing him in the exchange.

Police recovered both the suspect's weapon and the pistol allegedly taken from the victim after the shooting.

Investigators also said the suspect had allegedly snatched a motorcycle before carrying out the attack.

Earlier, CCTV footage of the incident surfaced, showing the victim and the suspects at the corner of a street. The footage appears to show an exchange of words before the alleged gunman, who was riding pillion on a motorcycle driven by a juvenile, shot the victim, identified as Asim, once in the neck.

Asim died at the scene from the gunshot wound, while the suspect allegedly fled with the victim's pistol.

Police are continuing their investigation into the incident, including the role of the juvenile seen riding the motorcycle.
