KP govt to auction number plates with names of Zardari, Nawaz Sharif and Imran Khan

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to auction special vehicle number plates bearing the names of President Asif Ali Zardari, former prime ministers Nawaz Sharif and Imran Khan.
Speaking to a private TV channel, Provincial Minister for Excise and Taxation Syed Fakhar Jehan said that the auction will be held on January 27 at Nishtar Hall in Peshawar.
He said that the bidding for premium and number plates of choice will start at Rs1 million. The highest bidder will be able to obtain a number plate carrying the name of their preferred political or national figure.
The minister said that the auction will be expanded in phases to include the names of more national leaders, well-known personalities, regions and communities.
He added that vehicle owners are showing strong interest in the initiative and that it is expected to generate significant revenue for the national exchequer.
According to the Excise Department, applications to participate in the auction are being submitted through the Citizen Dastak app, with January 26, 2026 set as the deadline.
