Breakthrough in dispute between Karachi Bar and Rajab Butt’s counsel

A new development has emerged in the dispute between lawyers of the Karachi Bar and Rajab Butt’s counsel, Mian Ali Ashfaq.

According to sources, Mian Ali Ashfaq is expected to appear at the Karachi City Court tomorrow, where he will announce his withdrawal from the pending cases.

Following this, the Karachi Bar is likely to withdraw its petition.

Sources said that on the Karachi Bar’s request, the Punjab Bar Council had suspended Ali Ashfaq’s licence to practise law.

However, efforts are now under way to resolve the matter through mutual understanding, and Ali Ashfaq will appear before the City Court tomorrow to formally announce his withdrawal from the cases.

It may be recalled that a case was registered at the City Court police station over an alleged assault on Rajab Butt by lawyers, which led to the escalation of the dispute.

The Karachi Bar expects that the issue will be resolved peacefully once Ali Ashfaq withdraws from the cases.
