Amjad Hussain sworn in as Gilgit-Baltistan chief minister

Newly elected Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan, Amjad Hussain Advocate, has taken the oath of office today in a ceremony witnessed by political representatives, government representatives, and dignitaries.
The Governor of Gilgit-Baltistan, Syed Mehdi Shah, has administered the oath of office to the newly elected chief minister.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion of his first speech as the new chief minister, Mr Amjad Hussain vowed to contribute towards the development and prosperity of Gilgit-Baltistan.
“I will try my best to contribute towards the development of this region by encouraging investment, tourism, good governance, and transparency,” he declared.
Mr Amjad Hussain said thanks to the leadership of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) for supporting the government formation process. He appreciated that democracy had been served in the political process.
“The people of Gilgit-Baltistan have chosen the Pakistan Peoples Party, and I will try my best to serve them according to their expectations,” he further remarked.
He talked about the strategic and economic significance of Gilgit-Baltistan. He pointed out that Gilgit-Baltistan’s glaciers were important for providing water to Pakistan.
