Pakistan’s Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai joined former Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton to celebrate the Broadway premiere of their co-produced musical, shedding light on the history of struggles for the suffrage rights of American women.

Malala Yousafzai is a producer for "Suffs," a musical written entirely by singer-songwriter Shaina Taub.

Hillary and the 26-year-old both made their production debuts in the "Suffs," which recounts the campaign for the right to vote from 1913 until the ratification of the 19th Amendment in 1920.

According to The New York Times, the girls' education activist and her husband, Asser Malik attended the event on Thursday night wearing red pins, symbolising the call for a ceasefire in Gaza.

However, Malala’s collaboration with Hillary Clinton, who has consistently denied the gross human rights violations being committed by Israel in Gaza, faced severe criticism from activists.

US President, Joe Biden’s close aide, Hillary, despite Israel’s evident onslaught against Gaza civilians, rejected calls for a ceasefire, stating, "It is not possible," as it would be deemed as "a gift to Hamas."

Since the beginning of Israeli aggression after an attack by Hamas on October 7th, there have been fewer reported casualties or harm on the side of the resistance fighters by the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF).

On the other hand, Palestinians are increasingly bearing the brunt, enduring horrific injuries, starvation, and a lack of access to functioning healthcare in the enclave.

Yousufzai has time and again meekly urged for a ceasefire but has refrained from openly addressing the situation in Gaza, while addressing various other issues.

Her silence has led people to question her stance on Gaza, as she has never clearly spoken about it to date.

Journalist and media critic Sana Saeed who has been vocal about the Palestine issue, wrote on ‘X’, “Very cool that Malala is working alongside the former Secretary of State who supported the CIA drone wars that killed & maimed countless in Northern Pakistan, destroying access to education; a former SoS who is actively supporting the genocide in Gaza right now.“

“Malala herself has been relatively muted on the devastation of the education system in Gaza. Whatever little she’s said, has been muted platitudes,” she added.

“[...]@Malala this is not forgivable. You have been co-opted and you’re no longer so young that you cannot make informed choices. This is terribly sad and downright disgusting. Hillary is a war monger & an enemy of the third world,” another ‘X’ user, Tooba, who described herself as a researcher stated.

Journalist Maria Aamir and activist Maheen Ghani expressed their displeasure over Malala’s collaboration with Hillary Clinton.
