DOHA: Qatar has confirmed that US President Donald Trump modified the peace plan proposed by Arab and Muslim nations at Israel’s request before unveiling it to the world.

According to the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, several key recommendations from the original proposal were altered or removed to align with Israeli preferences.

In a statement to Arab media, Foreign Ministry spokesman Majid Al-Ansari said the final version of President Trump’s plan was “significantly different” from the one jointly submitted by Arab and Islamic countries.

“President Trump presented a modified version of the peace plan. Some proposals from Arab Muslim countries were included, while others were removed — and the changes were made at Israel’s behest,” Al-Ansari stated.

He noted that all parties engaged in ongoing negotiations in Egypt are seeking to reach an agreement, emphasizing that the exchange of prisoners and restoration of humanitarian aid can only occur through mutual consensus.

“Every side involved in the Egyptian-hosted talks wants an agreement,” he said, stressing the urgency of ending hostilities and stabilizing the situation in Gaza.

In a separate statement on Gaza’s future, the Qatari Foreign Ministry reiterated that the enclave’s governance must remain in Palestinian hands.

“The future of Gaza should be decided by Palestinians themselves,” the ministry said, adding that it was “too early to talk about the future of Hamas” and that international support will be crucial for Gaza’s reconstruction.

Qatar reaffirmed its long-standing position in favor of Palestinian sovereignty and self-determination, urging the international community to take an active role in rebuilding Gaza and ensuring long-term stability.

The Gulf state has played a key role in mediating between Israel and Palestinian factions, advocating dialogue, humanitarian access, and regional cooperation.

Earlier this week, Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar told the National Assembly that the 20-point plan announced by President Trump did not align with the draft originally proposed by a group of Muslim-majority nations.
