Lahore: Several districts of Punjab are likely to experience heavy rainfall until September 5, raising the risk of intensified flooding in major rivers, according to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA).

The PDMA reported that water flow in the Chenab River has surged to 468,000 cusecs at Marala Headworks, 339,470 cusecs at Khanki, and 232,450 cusecs at Qadirabad Headworks.

At Chiniot Bridge, the water level has reached 108,343 cusecs, while 355,744 cusecs are passing through Trimmu Headworks.

In the Ravi River, water flow stands at 71,010 cusecs at Jassar, 54,190 cusecs at Siphon, 53,630 cusecs at Shahdara, 117,655 cusecs at Balloki, and 193,470 cusecs at Sadhnai Headworks.

The Sutlej River is also witnessing a sharp rise, with 269,501 cusecs at Ganda Singh Wala, 122,736 cusecs at Sulemanki, 95,727 cusecs at Islam Headworks, and 182,107 cusecs at Panjnad Headworks.

Meanwhile, a Power Division report (as of Sept 3) stated that electricity restoration in flood-affected areas is progressing rapidly. In PESCO-operated regions, including Swat, Buner, Shangla, Swabi, and D.I. Khan, a total of 12 grid stations and 91 feeders were damaged.

Out of these, 85 feeders have been fully restored, while 6 are partially operational.

So far, electricity has been restored to 459,921 of 463,375 affected consumers, with the remaining 3,454 consumers expected to regain full supply between September 4–11.

Complete restoration has already been achieved in Swabi and D.I. Khan.
