Samiya Hijab kidnapping case: Islamabad court grants interim bail to accused Hassan Zahid

A district and sessions court in Islamabad has granted interim bail to Hassan Zahid, who was arrested on charges of kidnapping and issuing death threats to Instagram influencer Samiya Hijab. However, he will remain in custody in connection with another case.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Amir Zia heard the bail application, approving it against surety bonds of Rs 20,000. The court also directed Zahid to cooperate with investigators during the ongoing probe.

In his application, Zahid maintained that he is innocent, claiming the case against him was lodged on allegations of harassment and blackmail.

Meanwhile, Zahid is serving a five-day physical remand in another case registered at Shalimar Police Station. The court will hear arguments on his pre-arrest bail plea on September 9.
