Renowned actor Mikaal Zulfiqar is captivating the audience with his ongoing drama series "Jaisay Aap Ki Marzi," which has received immense acclaim for its riveting and true-to-life storyline that sheds light on narcissistic abuse within a marital relationship.

In a recent interview, Mikaal opened up about his portrayal of 'Sherry,' a narcissistic husband who consistently manipulates his wife.

When asked about what led him to accept the role in the drama, he stated, "Actually, it was a well-crafted script. I must give credit to the writer for penning such an impressive script. My specific reason for taking on this drama was the prominence of a driving character. Typically, our dramas are female-driven, with a strong female character pushing the story forward. However, in this case, it was the other way aorund. In this drama, every action by Sherry move propels the storyline."

The ’Money Back Guarantee’ star maintianed that there is nothing admirable about Sherry's character; he entirely dominates Alizey's character. He added, "In real life, the character of Sherry didn't resonate with me personally, but as an actor, I saw potential for my craft."

When asked if he has encountered characters like Sherry in real life, Mikaal shared that he has indeed come across many individuals resembling Sherry in real-life situations. He stated, "My inspiration also comes from society and personal experiences."

The ‘Sar-e-Rah’ actor continued to credit the scriptwriter for adeptly crafting the script, making it easy for him to understand te character. He emphasised his intention to portray the character naturally rather than in a contrived manner.

"It was so clearly and aptly written that I understood how the character is supposed to be portrayed. I aimed to keep it natural. I didn't want it to appear forced. Even during intense scenes, I wanted the expressions to flow. I could have performed it with pauses, but I chose to make it fluent to give it a natural look."

Expressing his joy over widespread acclaim for his character, he stated, "People are saying it is my best performance up until now, and I don't disagree with that."

He also emphasised the importance of not overlooking red flags in a relationship, stating, "People often don't take action when they observe red flags in their relationships. Many women related to the drama, saying, 'My husband used to do the same,' and shared their painful experiences, which saddened me as well."

Mikaal clarified that the message is pertinent to men as well, as women can also exhibit toxic behaviour.
