Sindh to launch HPV vaccination drive from Sept 15 to protect girls from cervical cancer

The Sindh Health Department has announced a vaccination campaign to protect girls from cervical cancer.

Provincial Health Minister Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho said the campaign will run from September 15 to September 27, during which girls will be administered the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine.

She emphasized that vaccination is the most effective way to safeguard against cervical cancer.

Explaining the disease, she said the cervix is the lower part of the uterus, and abnormal growth of cells in this area can lead to cervical cancer.

The main cause of the disease is the Human Papillomavirus (HPV).

The minister urged parents to ensure their daughters are vaccinated, highlighting the importance of prevention through timely immunization.
