Following recent heavy rains, the number of skin disease patients in the city has significantly increased.

According to dermatologist Dr. Abdullah Yahya, the Chamra Hospital is currently receiving around 5,000 skin disease patients daily.

He noted that the surge in cases began shortly after the monsoon season.

Dr. Abdullah explained that fungal and bacterial infections are spreading due to exposure to contaminated water and open manholes.

Additionally, stagnant water is contributing to a rise in parasitic infections.

Meanwhile, dermatologist Dr. Rabia reported that the outpatient department at Civil Hospital is seeing 500 to 600 patients with skin conditions daily, while Jinnah Hospital is receiving over 600 such patients per day.

Dr. Rabia urged citizens to avoid contact with polluted water and unhygienic environments, emphasizing the importance of personal hygiene during and after rainfall.
