Thailand has been grappling with oppressive heat as temperatures rise throughout the area. Climate experts link this surge to the effects of climate change, which are leading to more frequent, prolonged, and severe heatwaves.

In the central province of Nakhon Sawan, the prolonged absence of rain has prompted villagers in Phayuha Khiri District to turn to a distinctive tradition to break the dry spell.

Traditionally known as "Hae Nang Meaw," or the parading of a female cat, villagers have opted to parade Japanese manga cat Doraemon or HelloKitty dolls instead.

This tradition originates from the belief that cats, famously averse to water, possess the ability to summon rainfall through their vocalizations after being soaked.

Meanwhile, in the southern province of Nakhon Si Thammarat, the blistering heat caused railway tracks to warp. With temperatures soaring to 41 degrees Celsius (105 Fahrenheit), railway workers had to moisten the rails to reshape them.

The State Railway of Thailand attributed the distortion of the tracks to the "extreme heat" experienced between Ron Phibun and Khao Chum Thong on April 30th. After an hour-long treatment with water and ice, the tracks were restored to usability.
