An Indian man has set up his own business of donkey milk, earning over INR250,000 (approximately PKR830,000), Indian media reported on Monday.

According to local media, Gujrat’s Dhiren Solanki started a farm with 42 donkeys in his village in Patan district after he failed to get a government job.

Talking to Indian media, Solakni said he was searching for a public sector job as he was not paid enough in his private job.

“I came to know that donkeys are rare in South India. I met some people and set up this farm in my village about eight months ago,” the young businessman said.

As per the information provided by the local publications, Solanki invested INR2,200,000 rupees to establish the farm.

“Initially, it was a little tough as donkey milk demand in Gujrat was low, and I earned nothing in the initial five months,” he noted.

"But, the demand increased after I approached some cosmetic companies in South India," Solanki added.

Solanki said donkey milk costs around INR5,000-7,000 per litre, while cow milk prices at Rs65 per litre in India.

According to Solanki, the donkey milk is used in cosmetics products.
