Another incident has come to light in India involving blind trust in directions provided by Google Maps, resulting in an accident.
According to Indian media reports, a car in Mumbai plunged into a drain after following a route shown by Google Maps. Fortunately, the female driver was rescued safely.
The report stated that Google Maps directed the driver to a route under the Belapur Bridge, whereas the actual road was above the bridge.
Misguided by the app, the car ended up falling into the drain.
Eyewitnesses and rescue personnel quickly responded to the scene and rescued the woman.
Later, her car was also retrieved from the drain with the help of a crane.
It’s worth noting that this is not the first time an accident has occurred due to blind reliance on Google Maps. Several similar incidents have been reported in the past.
In one such case last November, a vehicle in India plunged off an under-construction bridge while following a Google Maps route, resulting in the death of three individuals.
#FLASH: Around 1 AM, a woman’s car plunged into a creek after Google Maps directed her to a dead-end near Belapur.
