US YouTuber Tyler Oliveira said that he has decided not to release his documentary on India’s “poop-throwing festival” after receiving thousands of threats and having his family doxxed. Tyler shared messages from Indian numbers that included rape threats directed at his sister.

Taking to X, Oliveria stated that his decision came after realizing that his family could no longer bear the disturbing harassment campaign being run by “thousands of Indians” since he released a vlog about the cow dung festival in Karnataka.

He faced backlash in India for describing his experience and showing scenes from the festival.

His post drew widespread attention across platforms, with one Reddit user commenting, “India’s PR got nuked. I don’t know how to defend my country anymore.”

Some Indian accounts called for Oliveira’s arrest, alleging that he confused the Diwali festivities with Gorehabba, the traditional cow dung festival celebrated in Karnataka. Trolls also targeted his family, circulating doctored images and offensive captions about his mother.

The controversy escalated further when several Indian users accused Oliveira of visiting India with financial support from Pakistan.

“Tens of thousands of Indians have turned my life into a living hell. My family has been attacked in ways I never could have imagined,” he wrote on X on Thursday.

“I am only one man… I cannot defeat the combined power of 1.5 billion Indians who yearn for my destruction. I simply cannot continue fighting this war and must choose my battles. This one simply isn’t worth it.”

He further added, “I never meant to offend Indians, their religion, or their culture. I just wanted to participate in this unusual poop-throwing festival and share it with the world.”

Oliveria urged Indians to stop threatening him, clarifying that he did not intend to disrespect their culture or religion and only wanted to share his experience of attending the cow dung festival.

He requested online trolls and bullies to “leave my family alone.”

Tyler also shared screenshots of missed calls from Indian numbers and WhatsApp messages threatening to rape his sister. He added that X had censored his post about the cow dung festival in India.

It is pertinent to mention that X filed a lawsuit against the Indian government in 2025 for blocking content on the platform.
