U.S. military investigators believe it is likely that American forces were responsible for the strike on girls’ school in Minab, the inquiry, however, remains unfinished and no final conclusion has been reached.

Investigators have not yet determined what evidence led to the belief that US might be involved in the attack and what type of weapon was used, or the reasons behind the strike.

However, the officials, stated that it was still possible that new evidence could emerge pointing to another responsible party.

According to reports, U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth acknowledged the military was investigating the incident, stressing that U.S. forces “never target civilian targets.”

Meanwhile, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio told reporters the United States would not deliberately target a school, and that the “Department of War” would investigate if the strike proved to be by US.

Moreover, the United Nations human rights office has urged a thorough investigation, calling on whatever forces carried out the strike to disclose findings.

They also claimed that attacks on civilian structures like schools, constitute to a war crime under international humanitarian law if done deliberately.
