US President Donald Trump stated on Wednesday that he had been told that the deaths of the Iranian demonstrators had been stopped, though he added that he would “watch it and see” about threatened military action.

Trump had spoken repeatedly in recent days about lending aid to Iranian citizens regarding the dispersal of protests there.

However, in a dramatic turn of events at the White House, Trump revealed he had received assurances from "very important sources on the other side" that Tehran had called a ceasefire on executions.

"They have said that there is no more killing and there will be no executions because there were going to be lots of executions today, and that is not going to happen, and we are going to see," Trump stated.

There were no details provided, and he also said that there had been no confirmation from the United States of this information.

Responding to a journalist's question in the Oval Office about whether US military action was “now off the table,” Trump said, “We’re going to watch it and see what the process is.”

However, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi later said "no hanging today or tomorrow" in an interview with a private news channel
