A powerful 7.2 magnitude earthquake struck the southern part of China's Xinjiang province, which caused significant damage due to collapsed buildings.

The earthquake's epicenter was recorded 22 km deep in Vushi County, and its tremors reached as far as Delhi, India. 

2 houses collapsed due to the earthquake, due to which there are reports of injuries to many people.

The railway system has also been affected due to the strong tremors of the earthquake, which led to the suspension of 27 trains.

China's Ministry of Emergency Affairs has mobilized various departments for relief efforts. 

China has experienced a string of natural disasters in recent months, some following extreme weather events such as sudden, heavy downpours.

Earlier on January 6, severe earthquake tremors were felt in the city of Quetta of Balochistan province in Pakistan and its surroundings.

According to the seismological center, the tremors of the earthquake were felt at 11:09 a.m., with a magnitude of 4.6, while the epicenter was 98 km underground in the Hindu Kush Mountains of Afghanistan.
