Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has urged women to avoid sharing their personal photos with others, warning that suspects use pictures and videos to blackmail them.

Speaking to the media in Lahore on Friday, Naqvi said he had visited the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) office to understand the public's concerns.

He said the agency was receiving the highest number of harassment cases involving girls, adding that an awareness campaign would be launched to educate girls and the general public about cybercrime.

The minister also cautioned people against transferring money to individuals who solicit funds online, including those who claim to be ill.

Naqvi said 61 personnel were working with the NCCIA across Punjab and that efforts were being made to ensure sufficient staffing to address public complaints.

He added that the agency had arrested suspects in several important cases and said the government would strengthen the cybercrime police.

Naqvi said anyone found involved in cybercrime, whether a government employee or another individual, would be apprehended.
